15th Annual SCAA Conference and Exhibition, Boston
World's Largest Gathering of Coffee Professionals Converges on Boston April 25-28, 2003
Long Beach, CA - The Specialty Coffee Association of America's (SCAA) 15th Annual Conference & Exhibition will be held at the J.B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, in Boston, April 25-28, 2003. As the year's largest and most educational coffee event, SCAA's Conference offers 170 hours of education on a wide range of topics, from the coffee common ("Getting Into The Coffee Business") to the coffee obscure ("Innovative Eco-Roasting Pollution Control Systems").
Over 7,000 coffee professionals from over 40 countries are expected to participate. The exhibition includes 800 booths featuring coffee products and related products. Attendees include representatives from every sector of the coffee industry: coffee producers, exporters, importers, roasters, retailers and coffee manufacturers. The theme for this year's Boston Conference is "The Shot Heard 'Round the World" and will feature the United States Barista Championships and the 4th Annual World Barista Championship. Baristi from all over the world will compete to see the one whose drinks reign supreme. Barista Competitions are open to the public, and take place from Thursday, April 24th through Monday, April 28th of the conference.
The SCAA is proud to welcome Dunkin' Donuts as the official host for this year's event. A leader in the coffee industry, dedicated to providing high quality coffee, Dunkin' Donuts' roots are in Massachusetts, where the first store opened in Quincy, Massachusetts, just 10 miles south of Boston.
"Our commitment to high quality coffee has been a primary reason for Dunkin' Donuts' success. Since opening our doors in 1950, we have continuously refined our coffee making process to produce the coffee that is part of the morning ritual of more than 2 million Dunkin' Donuts customers every day," said Ken Kimmel, Vice President, Dunkin Donuts Incorporated. "This is a commitment we know we share with the entire SCAA, which is why we are so pleased to sponsor the 2003 Conference in our home town, Boston."
At the conference, Dunkin' Donuts will sponsor the Coffee Kids Reception. Coffee Kids is an organization that has helped improve the quality of lives for thousands of children, women and men in coffee-producing regions in Mexico and Central America by building more sustainable communities.
