02.12.01 | The Passionate Harvest Wins Best New Product Award at Coffee Fest Las Vegas

The Passionate Harvest, a Bruce Milletto/Kenneth Davids production, is the winner of the "Best New Product" award at Coffee Fest Las Vegas. Entries are judged on retailer appeal and technological advancement or improvement. Only one such award is given at each Coffee Fest Tradeshow.

Shot in Guatemala, Brazil, Kona and Ethiopia, The Passionate Harvest takes a detailed look at the inner workings of the diverse processes involved in coffee production, emphasizing the enormous amount of effort and care required to produce quality coffee, and highlighting some of the issues and decision points that affect final cup quality and character.

"We are very pleased to receive this honor," said Bruce Milletto, president of Bellissimo Coffee InfoGroup and the video's director. "We feel The Passionate Harvest is one of the most important videos ever produced about coffee. Ninety-nine percent of the workers in specialty coffee will never visit an origin country. This video has the impact and substance to train the most sophisticated coffee owner but is also fun and hot enough to grab the attention of the minimum-wage employee. Stores that show this tape will also educate customers about the product we all realize has an uphill battle for recognition and appreciation."

"The judges felt that everyone involved in the specialty coffee industry could benefit by viewing this video," said David Heilbrunn, Show Manager of Coffee Fest Tradeshows. "They also felt that through the power of technology, Bellissimo has taken all viewers of this video to the growing regions to obtain a valuable new appreciation for the production of our core product."

Coffee Fest Trade Shows and Educational Programming have been the regional showcase for the Specialty Coffee and Gourmet Tea Industries since 1991. In addition to the tradeshow held in February in Las Vegas, Coffee Fest will hold shows in Atlanta in June and Seattle in September.

This brings Bellissimo's 2001 award count to three for productions featuring training or marketing for the specialty coffee industry.
